Open Position

Chinook Breeder Co-op provides livestock financing for breeding stock in the cattle, sheep, and goat industries throughout southwest Alberta. We are currently seeking a supervisor to support our growing operations. While spring and fall are our busiest seasons, this position remains active throughout the year.

Position: Supervisor

Supervisors are responsible for conducting livestock inspections, completing required documentation, and acting as a liaison between the Co-op and its members.

Qualifications & Requirements

The successful applicant(s) will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • An outgoing personality with the ability to comfortably meet and communicate with members

  • Ability to accurately count and visually inspect livestock

  • Strong knowledge of the cattle and/or sheep/goat industries, particularly breeding stock

  • Experience conducting inspections of:
    new livestock purchases, branded calves or tagged lambs (including verification of head count, correct application of brands/tags, livestock health, and feed conditions)

  • Completion of inspection documentation and mileage tracking

  • Obtaining member signatures on membership and loan documents

  • Conducting inspections of deceased livestock to determine ownership

  • Proficiency with current technology, including:

  • Email and text communication

  • Smartphone with photo capability

  • Computer use and document scanning

  • Clear and legible handwriting

  • Access to a dependable vehicle and the availability to complete inspections in a timely manner

  • Willingness to attend quarterly and annual meetings and provide written activity reports

  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors from time to time
